Celebrity Hair Highlights Female celebrities today are as much a source of inspiration to women everywhere for their haircolors as their hairstyles. Women of all ages, after all, are interested in both colors and styles. Teens as young as 14 like Miley Cyrus like to highlight their hair, and older ladies in their 50s like Ellen Barkin also get attractive highlights. Celebrity Hair Highlights.com is a new site launched in 2008 exclusively for women and, exactly as its name suggests, only features images of stars with highlights in their hair. There are currently over 40 pictures in total on this website which you can review free. It is divided into three main sections based on the intensity of the highlights: 1) subtle; 2) moderate; and, 3) bold. These basic categories reflect the main highlighting styles girls like. Celeb hair colors unfortunately cannot be identified exactly by name since they are not communicated to the public. Nevertheless, a good colorist in your city will know which haircolors and brands will be needed to replicate haircolor looks you like. Find a picture here, print it out, and ask your hairdresser or colorist. Fall 2008 Hair Color Trends "As for color, there will be a departure from bleached-out blondes," says Asia Gonzalez-Dent, owner of the Lift Hair Studio, "Rather than a full head of highlights, specifically placed highlights are the way to go. Ask for brightlights rather than highlights--they brighten up the face by their strategic placement. This way, you're highlighting and framing the face. Another, brighter variation are spicelights. These are highlights, but have a more caramel or red tone than blonde, They're best for darker pigmented women--as they leave a subtle transformation because they don't reflect." --Hairstyle Showcase (Fall 2008) Celebrity Hair Highlights hasn't been updated in 2009, but on a different web you can get news and information about Celebrity Hairstyles 2010. That link also takes you to photos and comments about the latest trendy hair colors from hairstylists. If you're more interested in what looks good instead of what is in fashion, that web also has a large collection of the best highlights pictures (see home page link). What is in fashion? There are two ways of determining fashionable highlights. One is to consider what the colorists are predicting is just around the corner; another is to actually ask the women who have just got their hair done in a salon, or are about to get it done. According to one poll now online that is still taking votes, the majority say they're about to get bold highlights (50%) as opposed to moderate (36%) or subtle (14%). Rita Hazan is a celebrity hair colorist with a salon on Fifth Avenue in New York City. She is trusted by the stars to do their hair highlights. There are some celebs who have gone to her for many years and others who go to her when their hair color is a mess. In a recent magazine interview, Rita shared her professional hair color tips. "When I started working with Jennifer [Lopez] in the '90s, I thought it would be fun to experiment with honey highlights. I had no idea it would become such a big part of her look." As Jennifer has become older, InStyle says, Hazan's new technique became "inside highlights" that only show when she flips her hair. "Dark hair like Rachel Weisz's always looks super-healthy," she adds, "because it reflects so much light." What's her secret when it starts to look too dark or "inky"? "I'll break it up with subtle highlights at the crown." Rita Hazan offers an observation from her many years of experience: "The [hair] color always turns out slightly darker than it looks on the box." Ms. Hazan was once called upon by Jessica Simpson when the young famous blonde had a hair color emergency. "The first time Jessica came to see me [at age 18]," she recounted, "was to fix a bleached-out platinum dye-job." Her trick now, reveals InStyle, is to give her "a golden blonde base with paler baby blond highlights." Speaking of Jessica Simpson, do you remember when she went brunette? This was a few years ago. At the time US Weekly spoke with her colorist, Rita Hazan, who then worked at the famous Oribe Salon in New York. She explained the reasoning behind Jessica's hair color makeover from blonde to brunette. "Jessica looks more mature and less like a kid on the beach," she said. "It also helps to differentiate her from all the other young blonde singers." "I've been blonde all my life," Jessica herself commented, "and I decided one day that I wanted to do something different and go brunette." Copyright © by Celebrity Hair Highlights.com.
